CT/MRI ScalarMetrics · Last updated September 30, 2026

By purchasing, installing, or using CT/MRI ScalarMetrics (“the App”) on Android, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the App. This Policy forms part of, and should be read together with, the Terms of Use.

1. Who We Are

The App is published by ScalarMetrics (“ScalarMetrics”, “we”, “us”), an independent software developer. CT/MRI ScalarMetrics is distributed worldwide through Google Play. ScalarMetrics is not a healthcare provider, a medical-device manufacturer, a laboratory, or a clinical service of any kind. Contact details are in Section 22.

2. What the App Is - Research, Educational and Reference Use Only

The App is an offline reference and calculation tool for CT/MRI measurements. You manually type or select numeric values (for example an organ dimension, an attenuation or signal-intensity value, an age band, a sex, or a gestational age) and the App applies published formulas and reference ranges to display derived values such as volumes, ratios, indices, z-scores, percentiles, estimated gestational age, and category or severity classifications, together with explanatory text and literature citations.

The App is provided strictly for research, educational, and informational reference purposes. It is not a medical device, has not received clearance, approval, marking, or registration from any medical-device regulator in any jurisdiction (including but not limited to the FDA, the EU, or any other national or regional authority), and has not been clinically validated. It does not acquire, display, store, or process CT/MRI images, DICOM data, or any output of a CT/MRI scanner. The App must never be used as the sole or primary basis for clinical diagnosis, screening, triage, treatment planning, treatment decisions, prognosis, or any other clinical purpose. All outputs are approximations without clinical warranty and may contain errors. Use of the App does not create a professional or fiduciary relationship of any kind between you and ScalarMetrics, and ScalarMetrics assumes no liability for any decision or action taken on the basis of information displayed by the App.

3. Data Processing

The App processes only the numeric values and selections that you type or choose directly within the App during a session. The App does not open, import, scan, or process any file, image, document, sensor, or other data stored on or captured by your device. All calculation and display occur locally, in memory, on your device. No value you enter is ever transmitted to ScalarMetrics or to anyone else.

4. Data We Do Not Collect

The App has no network access of any kind and therefore cannot collect, request, or transmit personal data. Specifically, the App:

Because the App collects nothing, ScalarMetrics holds no personal data about you, cannot identify you as a user of the App, and cannot link any App activity to you.

5. Do Not Enter Patient-Identifying Information

The App provides only numeric and categorical input fields. It has no free-text field for names, identifiers, dates of birth, or notes, and you must not attempt to record any patient-identifying information in it by any other means. Numeric measurement values, an age band, a sex, or a gestational age entered without any accompanying identifier are not, by themselves, personal data of any patient. You are solely responsible for ensuring that your use of the App complies with any confidentiality, data-protection, or professional-secrecy obligation you owe to any patient or institution.

6. Data Stored Locally on Your Device

The following data is written to private app preferences on your device only, is never read by ScalarMetrics, and is never transmitted anywhere by the App:

Android system backup. The App allows Android’s standard application backup. If you have enabled backup on your device, the operating system may copy the preferences listed above (never measurement values, which are not persisted) to the Google account you have configured for device backup, encrypted and under Google’s own terms and privacy policy. ScalarMetrics has no access to those backups. You can disable app backup at any time in your device’s Settings (Google > Backup) or by clearing the App’s storage as described in Section 11.

7. Purchase Information Processed by Google Play

The App is a paid application distributed exclusively through Google Play. When you purchase the App, Google LLC and its affiliates (“Google”) act as the merchant of record and process your payment, billing address, tax information, and payment method under the Google Play Terms of Service and Google Privacy Policy, not under this Policy. ScalarMetrics does not receive your name, email address, payment-card details, or any other personally identifying purchase information from Google; Google provides ScalarMetrics only with aggregated, non-identifying sales, installation, and country-level statistics through the Google Play Console.

Independently of the App, Android and Google Play may collect device diagnostics, crash reports, or usage statistics under Google’s own settings (for example “Usage & diagnostics”) and may present aggregated, anonymised versions of those to ScalarMetrics via Google Play Console features such as Android Vitals. That collection is controlled by Google and by your device settings, not by the App, and is governed by Google’s privacy policy.

8. No Accounts, No Profiling, No Sale of Data

The App does not require sign-in, does not create a user profile, does not build or infer any profile of you, and does not sell, rent, share, or otherwise disclose any information to any third party, because none is collected. The App is a fully self-contained, offline reference tool.

9. Accuracy and Sources of Reference Content

Normal ranges, cut-off values, formulas, regression coefficients, reference curves, and explanatory text presented in the App are compiled from published medical and scientific literature, which is cited within the App, that ScalarMetrics believed to be reliable at the time of compilation. Medical knowledge evolves continuously; any cited source may later be revised, superseded, retracted, or found to be in error, and different populations, equipment, protocols, and measurement techniques can produce values that differ materially from any published reference. ScalarMetrics does not continuously monitor, re-verify, or update cited sources; does not warrant that any transcription of a formula or threshold is free from typographical or programming error; and makes no representation that any value reflects current clinical consensus at the time you view it. You are solely responsible for independently verifying every value against current, authoritative clinical guidance and your own professional judgment before relying on it in any way.

10. Translations and Units

The App may display its interface, measurement names, and explanatory text in several languages. Translations are provided for convenience only and may contain inaccuracies; where any translated text conflicts with the English text, the English text prevails. Units, decimal separators, and rounding are displayed according to the App’s internal conventions and may differ from those used in your region or on your equipment. You are solely responsible for confirming that every value you enter is expressed in the unit the App expects and that every displayed result is interpreted in the unit shown.

11. Data Retention and Deletion

Because the App does not persist any measurement data, there is nothing to retain or delete beyond the local device preferences described in Section 6. To remove all locally stored preferences: on Android, go to Settings > Apps > CT/MRI ScalarMetrics > Storage & cache and tap Clear storage. Uninstalling the App permanently removes all its local data. Because ScalarMetrics never receives or stores any user data on its own systems, there is no data held by ScalarMetrics to access, correct, port, or erase, and no remote deletion request process to fulfil. Requests concerning your Google Play purchase record or Google backups must be directed to Google.

12. Security

ScalarMetrics uses measures reasonable for a purely local, offline application, including declining any network capability and storing only non-sensitive preferences. Nevertheless, no method of electronic storage is completely secure. ScalarMetrics cannot and does not guarantee the security of any data on your device, including against loss, corruption, or unauthorised access resulting from device loss or theft, malware, screen recording or shoulder-surfing, physical access by third parties, rooted or modified devices, or vulnerabilities in your device’s operating system, all of which are outside ScalarMetrics’ control.

13. International Use

CT/MRI ScalarMetrics is offered worldwide. The App performs all processing locally on your device wherever you are located, and the App itself transmits no information across any border because it transmits no information at all. Wherever you use the App, you are solely responsible for ensuring that your use complies with the laws applicable to you, including any local restrictions on medical reference, calculation, or educational software and any professional-licensing rules.

14. Permissions

The App declares no runtime, special, or Internet permission. It relies only on the defaults every installed Android application receives from the operating system, such as the ability to vibrate the device for haptic feedback where the device exposes this without a permission.

15. Third-Party Services and Open-Source Components

The App integrates no third-party SDK, analytics service, advertising network, or cloud backend. Apart from Google Play (Section 7) and Android system backup (Section 6), no third-party privacy policy applies to your use of the App. The App is built with open-source software libraries (for example the Android Jetpack and Kotlin libraries) that execute locally and do not collect or transmit data; their licences are available on request.

16. HIPAA, GDPR and Other Regulatory Regimes

ScalarMetrics is not a HIPAA-covered entity or business associate, is not a “processor” or “controller” of any patient data under the GDPR or any comparable data-protection law, and is not a healthcare provider. The App is not designed, intended, or warranted for use in environments requiring HIPAA, GDPR, PIPEDA, or similar compliance for the storage or transmission of patient data, and it stores and transmits none. If you nonetheless use the App in connection with a clinical, research, or institutional workflow, you do so entirely at your own risk and are solely responsible for all compliance, including any data-protection impact assessment, ethics or review-board approval, and institutional policy.

17. Children’s Privacy

The App is a professional and educational reference tool and is not directed at individuals under 18 years of age. Google Play’s age rating and parental controls govern who may purchase it. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children, because the App collects no information from anyone. If you believe a child has provided us information in a manner not described here, contact us using Section 22; as described above, the App has no mechanism to receive or store such information.

18. Disclaimer of Warranties

The App and all information displayed by it are provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, completeness, currency, or non-infringement. ScalarMetrics does not warrant that the App will be error-free or that any measurement, calculation, classification, reference range, translation, or citation displayed is accurate, current, complete, or suitable for any particular use.

19. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, ScalarMetrics and its owners, officers, employees, contractors, and agents shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, profits, revenue, or goodwill, or any personal injury or death, arising out of or related to your use of, or inability to use, the App or any information displayed by it, regardless of the theory of liability and even if ScalarMetrics has been advised of the possibility of such damages. In no event shall ScalarMetrics’ total aggregate liability arising out of or relating to this Policy or the App exceed the price you actually paid to purchase the App. Nothing in this Policy excludes or limits any liability that cannot be excluded or limited under the mandatory consumer-protection law applicable to you.

20. Changes to This Policy

ScalarMetrics may modify this Privacy Policy at any time at its sole discretion. Changes become effective when the revised Policy is included in an App update that you install. Your continued use of the App after installing such an update constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy. We will update the “Last updated” date above when changes are made and are not obligated to provide individual notice.

21. Governing Law, Severability and Language

This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws applicable to ScalarMetrics as a company, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except where mandatory consumer-protection law in your country of residence entitles you to the protection of your own local law or to bring proceedings before your own local courts, in which case that mandatory right prevails. If any provision of this Policy is found unenforceable or invalid, that provision shall be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary and the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect. This Policy is written in English; any translation is provided for convenience only and the English text prevails in case of conflict.
